**All Afterschool Activities and Saturday Activities Cancelled!**
Today, Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th there will be no extracurricular activities because of the impending tropical storm. Please make sure students are picked up promptly at 2:30!

News for Sept. 20th - 24th
Literacy:
- Continuing and finishing personal narratives - Go through the 5 steps of the writing process
- Proofreading and Revising techniques
- Published (in cursive, black pen) copy of Personal Narrative due Monday, Sept. 27th (click on date for copy of rubric)
- Four Types of Sentences
Math:
- Continue Chapter 2: lessons 7- 12 (pgs. 66 -77 in book)
- Work on decimals - equivalent, rounding, comparing, and ordering
Science:
We have finished our time in science and will now be spending the rest of the quarter on social studies. We will pick back up the human body during 2nd quarter!
Social Studies:
- Continue to work on poster projects for our department: Comayagua - please send in any pictures, souvenirs, artifacts, etc... that have to do with Comayagua for our display by Thursday, Sept. 23rd
*Early Dismissal - Monday, Sept. 20th @ 1:oopm students leave!
**Peace Day - Tuesday, Sept. 21st - Assembly @ 10:10am

Math:
- Continue Place Value: Ch. 2 lesson 7 - Tenths and Hundredths
Instead of Science this week we will be studying the department of Comayagua for Fiesta Catracha. We will be doing projects and research and each student will be assigned to a group to create a poster for our department display.
**If you have anything (artifacts, pictures, maps, etc...) of Comayagua that our class could borrow, please start sending those in starting tomorrow and next week!***
* Independence Holiday: No school Wednesday Sept. 15th - Friday, Sept. 17th (teacher's day) - There will be NO early dismissal tomorrow - Enjoy your 5 day weekend!
** We are still missing party money, please send in cash or bank deposit slips!
***Those parents that volunteered items from our wish list, please remember to send them. We are in desperate need of the gallon size ziploc bags. Thank you to those parents that have sent what they offered!

- Personal Narrative - prewrite and drafts
- graphic organizers
- Discuss and assess characters and setting
- Story genre (non-fiction vs. realistic fiction)
Math:
- Reinforce, review, and assess (quiz thursday): addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Exploring Place Value Through Millions
***Those who do not know their Multiplication tables should be practicing them daily!
Science:
- Continue classifying living things
- Power point on the 6 Kingdoms of organisms
- Bring old magazine to cut out pictures
- 6 Kingdoms of Organisms posters - group project and presentations
- Quiz on Six Kingdoms - Friday, Sept. 10th (study power point)
*Day of the Child - Friday, Sept. 10th - Free Colors Day and Popsicles at lunch
**Friday is last day for Plato Test for those who are not finished
